Oly: Preview of early afternoon events

The action's about to heat up in Beijing from midday (AEST) with the spotlight on the
Water Cube and action in fencing .. archery .. beach volleyball and tennis.

LIBBY TRICKETT goes into the women's 100m butterfly final as fastest qualifier .. with
JESSICAH SCHIPPER third fastest .. trying to nail our second gold medal.

As well as the chance of a medal .. SCHIPPER will be trying to claim a place in the
women's 4x100m medley relay team .. which is a firm gold medal favourite.

BRENTON RICKARD is our other contender in the pool today .. chasing a medal in the
men's 100m breaststroke final.

In fencing JOANNA HALLS competes in the women's foil while MATTHEW GRAY .. SKY KIM
and MICHAEL NARAY draw their bows in the men's archery .. with ANDREW SCHACHT and JOSHUA
SLACK in the men's beach volleyball.

If the rain holds off we'll see LLEYTON HEWITT and ALICIA MOLIK in the tennis singles
with SAMANTHA STOSUR and RENAE STUBBS in the women's doubles.

From 2:00 this afternoon (AEST) there's judo .. followed by sailing .. boxing .. synchronised
diving on the 10 metre platform .. kayaking .. water polo and rowing.

Single sculler PETER HARDCASTLE faces his make-or-break Olympic moment when he lines
up for the rowing quarter-finals.

HARDCASTLE must finish in the top three of his heat to go through to the final 12 for
the semi-finals on Wednesday.

Tonight Australia plays Canada in the men's hockey .. and we take on Brazil in the
women's basketball .. with the Opals tipped to notch a second victory after brushing aside
Belarus in their opening game.
