Fed: Australians warned against Gallipoli trips
Australians have been warned against going to Gallipoli for Anzac Day amid fears they
could be a target for terrorists.
Foreign Minister ALEXANDER DOWNER says the government believes there's a continuing
threat of a terrorist attack in Turkey.
He's recommended Australians put off any non-essential travel to the country.
Mr DOWNER says there's no information pointing to a specific terrorist threat to the
Anzac Day services.
But he says Australians are still advised to take careful account of the general threat
of terrorism.
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade issued a travel warning against visiting
Turkey for Anzac Day, following the terrorist bombings in Istanbul last November.
