NSW: Blue Mts fire heads for hotel=2
The fire at Medlow Bath broke its containment lines, fuelled by 40kph winds, and thethick smoke was filled with embers.
All resources were concentrating on property protection, keeping homes and other buildingscool to defend them against ember attack, the Rural Fire Service (RFS) said.
At 4.25pm (AEDT) the Hydro Majestic Hotel had not yet been evacuated.
"The general manager's running around the property at the moment," a staff member said.
"We've all been put up in one section of the hotel."
The Great Western Highway was closed at Medlow Bath due to flames and smoke, with detoursin place via The Bells Line of Road in both directions.
