QLD:Complacency a real danger, Mt Isa told

BRISBANE, Feb 3 AAP - Complacency is a danger as Cyclone Yasi approaches the inland
city of Mt Isa, police say.

Despite Mt Isa being 800km from where Yasi crossed the coast on Wednesday night, the
cyclone posed a real danger in coming days, said Superintendent Ray Pringle.

While Yasi approached in the city's normal wet season, it was a different event, Supt
Pringle said.

"The extraordinary thing about this weather system is, it's coming across with cyclonic-level
conditions," he said.
