FED: Howard says unfair dismissal laws back in a few weeks

CANBERRA, Feb 17 AAP - Prime Minister John Howard today vowed to reintroduce the
government's unfair dismissal laws in a few weeks after they were overturned last night by the
Senate.

Small firms are no longer exempted from unfair dismissal laws after an angry Senate
overturned controversial regulations put in place by the government during the summer
parliamentary recess.

Mr Howard said the action by Labor and the Australian Democrats would cost 50,000 jobs.

"We'll introduce the legislation again in the Senate in a few weeks," he said.
